The 2017 Ford GT is definitely a force to be reckoned with at the 2016 FIA WEC and TUDOR SportsCar Championship racing season.
The car is being built by Multimatic Motorsports, Ford’s Canadian partner. The Ford GT will be powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine that is estimated to make over 600 horsepower. Ford has plans to return to Le Mans next season with the GT. The twin-turbo V6 has already proven it’s race worthiness during the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Ford’s use of carbon fiber and other light weight materials help to keep the car’s weight to a minimum. The aerodynamics of the car help reduce drag while aiding downforce and stability.
The GT features an all-new, port/direct dual fuel-injection setup to improve engine response, plus a low-friction roller-finger-follower valvetrain. The twin-turbocharged V6 will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle for near-instantaneous gear changes and exceptional driver control. You can hear how fast the car changes gears in the video. It’s just incredible.
