These unsuspecting diners had their cars “swallowed” by a massive sinkhole while they were swallowing pancakes at iHop!
Saturday night will never be the same for a group of diners at the iHop restaurant in Meridian, Mississippi. As they feasted on pancakes the ground beneath the parking lot decided to open up and consume over a dozen cars. Apparently the parking lot had a voracious appetite.
According to a CBS report, at about 7:15 P.M., diners inside the iHop thought they felt an earthquake which prompted them to run outside to find a huge hole on the parking lot. More than a dozen cars fell into the massive hole and were damaged or destroyed. The hole was estimated to be 35 feet wide and 400 feet long!
Patrol Lieutenant Rita Jack stated, “When we arrived on scene, 14 to 15 vehicles that we could see had fallen roughly 30 feet into the ground. We expect that there may be more and that they may fall further into the ground because there is only mud underneath.”
Luckily no one was hurt in this crazy incident. It’s currently unknown what caused the ground to collapse.
